* what’s in a name …

Posted on January 24th, 2009 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

The name that bird contest is officially over! A big ole chick a dee thank you chirp to all of you peeps who participated. I got some really great entries, they were:

1. dilly doo
2. little debbie
3. yo j
4. Edgar
5. Brennan – but you have to call me Night Hawk
6. Fudz
7. Buzzard – suggested but not posted by Bapa Hayden
8. Lynard

Can I get a drum roll please …. And the winner is …. lynard yo j we will call him lynard for short. Ok, so yes I am a bit partial to my children but I love the name. Looks like lynard will be hanging out on his perch above our heads for a bit. At least until this chick a dee gets another wild feather and sends him a packing. I guess technically he is southern and he was a free(bird) and he sings … so the name fits perfectly. If you don’t like the choice quit your whining I’m deeply sorry, we will be having lots more contest in which you could be the winning peep. There will probably still not be any prizes but it’s still fun to play along.

And a big ole whoopin congrats chirp goes out to Kelly Harrison & Anna who knew that the title “once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary” is the first line in the Edgar Allen Poe poem, The Raven.

Now, moving right along to blog update business … I have successfully added a chat wall over on the sidebar. It’s really easy to use, all you have to do is click on theblogfrog thing above the comments, go there, sign up (it’s totally free) and then come back and leave me a short comment on the wall. It’s an easy way to do quick messages without having to go to an actual post to leave eachother comments. Like for instance, I could say “call me when you read this” or “y’all are some crazy little peeps” … it does not take the place of the post comment box, you still post your comments there for those particular post. I can also comment back to your comments without looking like a big ole dork & leaving comments on my own blog post. Got it? I knew you smart little peeps of mine would catch on.

    i do believe you should change the title to “Whats in a name” so you could be quoting the fabulous shakespear…
    “what’s in a name? by which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
