* do you ever wonder? …

question-mark

Have you peeps ever wondered why on earth I have a blog? Or more to the point, why would anyone choose to blog? In my humble, blog having, blog loving opinion, I think there are several reasons. At least for me there are several reasons that I enjoying blogging. It all started, for me, several years ago when I began reading a website called myadoptionwebsite.com. I was instantly drawn to the stories of children & adoption. While wondering around on that website, I began noticing all these families would write stuff like “check out my blog @ so and so.com” I had no clue what a blog was, being that I am not very internet savy and all. So wahlah I click on one of them and I am magically transported to someone’s blog. Well I was instantly hooked. I read blogs, followed blogs, found new blogs, you get the picture. Y’all are some smart peeps, I must tell ya! I thought, this is interesting … I get to see parts of people’s lives that I would have never had the opportunity to know about. I get to read views, thoughts and/or opinions that differ from mine and then I can ponder on why we may have a different view, thought or opinion. It was odd to me that some blogs I would connect with and some I didn’t … the things or subjects people choose to write about or their writing style … those things either brought me back or not. I never commented on a blog for several reasons, I didn’t know what to say, I was scared the blogger would think I was nuts or a stalker, etc … but I read comments that others left and enjoyed reading them & watching the interaction among people I didn’t even know, it’s interesting. Ok, yes, I should probably find something more productive to do, like washing dirty underwear, but I am pretending to be working on that today. Now back to the point, I never thought about having my own blog until Thanksgiving of this past year, when I was visiting with my brother and his family. He is a computer geek very smart concerning all things computerish. So for Christmas, tada, I got my very own blog. Finding a name for the blog was a joint effort involving my entire immediate family, I actually think, the concept of using “the devils track” in the name came from my dad. I did ask for some help from some of our past “Freaky Friday” guest, and they also had some great ideas. And then the hard part came. What did I want it to look like? And we all know what a drama that one was (and I’m not sure I’m loving Lynard today, so beware, we could be in for another change) What would I write about? well we all know, I have such a difficult time finding things to discuss … ok, that’s a lie. The problem is this, I am very opinionated, yes, I know that is a shock but try to contain your surprise. The bigger problem with that is, when one is the daughter of an elected official and works for another elected official, one wants to be careful not to show up on the front page of her local paper for having said something on her blog that would embarass her father and/or boss. That would be very very bad! And unless you peeps want to support me or have me move in with you, I will continue to not be overly controversial, at least until I either win the lottery or retire. What do I want to accomplish personally from having a blog? there are several answers to this question. #1. hopefully I will entertain you and make you think on occassion, #2. my children will someday have something solid to look back on when I’m no longer here, #3. I enjoy writing, I always have, so it gives me a chance to do something I enjoy, #4. I think it’s important to every human being to feel like we have a voice in this big ole world we live in … whether that be a humorous voice, a serious voice, a sad voice, an inspirational voice … I want to use my voice, I want my voice to make a difference, I want for you to know who I am and what I believe, even if you don’t agree with me because that is the glory of having one’s on voice, it’s your’s, no one elses. #5. I find blogging to be good therapy, it is a good outlet for me to relieve stress and enjoy creating something tangible. #6. I enjoy all of you, you make me smile, you give me support, you encourage me and I am grateful. So now you peeps know why I blog. Have you ever considered trying it yourself? It really isn’t hard, I promise … I am the least computer techie person you will ever meet & I am slowly but surely learning new things as I go. Of course, I would be a “BFL” if I didn’t tell you I have my very own personal consultant that I can call any hour of the day for help, thank goodness. But you really can do it. I would love to visit any blog that you peeps might be inclined to create. You should at least think about it … consider it for yourselves. Oh the fun we could have! But if your own blog isn’t for you, I sure do hope you will continue to participate in and enjoy mine, I love having you here. Y’all come back now, ya hear?

me.
