* are you smarter than a chunky chick & her chicklette? …

Posted on February 20th, 2009 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

Hello my friendly peeps. Let’s do something new tonight! Anna & I had a really good time taking this quiz the other night and I thought y’all might enjoy testing your knowledge also. Would you be eligible to become a U.S. citizen had you not been born here? To find out, click on the link here & take the quiz, then come back to our little blog & share your score in the comment box & you better not lie cause I will know! Ok, not really, but I promise not to make fun of you much if you aren’t as smart as me (us) or I promise to never speak to you again congratulate you if you are smarter than me (us). Our score was 85, not so bad. Of course, there were 2 of us & I have the distinct advantage of working for the smartest man in the world in matters concerning government & history. I do pay attention once in a blue moon. If my boss should by chance be reading this, I meant to say I pay attention all of the time, Heather doesn’t, but I do. Y’all did really great playing the lame name game earlier this week, so I anticipate lots of participation in this one too. Good luck & have fun.

ps: why are you peeps home on a Friday night reading my blog anyway? don’t you have a life? yea, me neither!

    I scored 90%.
    I missed:
    18. Who has the power to declare war?
    – Although, I maintain that the President can declare war, since he is the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, and then the Senate must ok it.
    19. What INS form is used to apply to become a naturalized citizen?
    – Why on earth would I need to know this? I’m already a citizen.
So there…I’ve rationalize it out and have come to the conclusion that I scored 100%.

Courtney, I am not at all surpised at your results. I missed the INS form one also, I got the one right about the President declaring war. I also love your ability to rationalize, which parent did you inherit that skill from? I could go with either of them for different reasons as an answer to that. I love you & miss you!

  3. chrisi

i’m glad you birthed me in the states, otherwise it doesn’t look like i would’ve been a citizen :(

  4. melinda

chrisi are you trying to say you didn’t do so good on the quiz? it’s ok my sweet girl, your mommy loves you and I don’t think you will be deported any time in the near future. sweet sugar dreams my princess!

  5. anna(the favorite)

i made a 90%…not to bad huh? well lets hope not since i am gonna be a history teacher and all haha:)

  6. Cathy

well…lets just say jimmy and i both might need a refresher in civics we scorred 80

  7. melinda

that ain’t bad cat … plus you are both sick so you get at least 10 points added to your score!

  8. Eric

I have packed my bags and I am headed toward the border.

  9. melinda

oh my how I laughed at mr. preacher man! that is way funny. But I would really appreciate it if you would stick around, it took me years to find a church/preacher/preacher’s wife that I really like & I am way to old to start looking for another one. And Anna said she is “really really upset with you for not leaving her a comment on her freaky friday post, she even gave you a shout out!” btw, your eye surgery probably affected your ability to read the questions properly.

  10. chrisi

that’s my excuse too eric–my eye surgery affected my ability to read the question. ha!

  11. melinda

Richard, David & Michael wanted me to let y’all know that they scored 90% in their combined effort on the citizenship quiz. However, I must add, they had some input from Anna, Bradley, Rodney, Shelly and most everybody at my house tonight.

  12. Earpie

Oh my gosh..I knew I shouldn’t have taken that quiz. I HATE history. I’m not even sure at this point I could even get into another country let alone here. I guess I should have paid more attention on my favorite trip to Gettysburg and all of the other informative historical trips my wonderful family has taken me on.

  13. melinda

Earpie, I am so telling our boss on you! btw, where did the lost colony go? paahhhhaaaahhhaaa!

  14. Jodie

Do you have any idea how many years it has been since I have been in school? I really liked the other test much better. It didn’t strain the brain near as much. I am not telling you my score…lets just say, although I am a U.S. citizen, I should be deported anyway.

  15. melinda

Jodie, 2 things come to mind … #1 you can go on the same bus with chrisi, cathy, jimmy, eric & earpie … #2 at least it will be warm!

  16. Jodie

Sign me up. I would love to spend time with Chrisi..no matter where it is! I’ll get my flip flops and shorts ready.(sure can’t use them here.)

  17. Amy

That’s my girl, Courtney – I would definitely give you 100% And Melinda, rationalization might be one of the few personality traits she got from me – not that there’s anything wrong with that! Oh, and I got an 85% and am exceedingly shocked and proud! But, I must confess, I totally guessed on a couple, such as the INS form and which amendment does what – but I did it all on my own at least! As my dear husband would say, “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally!”

  18. melinda

mimi shell, I would so agree, there is absolutely nothing wrong with some good ole rationalization skills … and kudo’s on the great score all by yourself. And somehow I had forgotten what a poet tim is Ha! love you!
