* camping is hard work but somebody’s gotta do it …
Hi y’all. We have returned to the homestead from our wonderful weekend in the wilderness. I was nearly overcome by the hardships of roughing it out in the wild blue yonder but I stood strong, I was tough, I wasn’t a wiennie head cry baby not once! I mean, it was really brutal out there with the rain & all, heck we even ran out of propane sometime this morning and the heat in the very nice, warm camper pole tent we called our shelter went out. I had to crawl out from under my down comforter, off of my 1000 thread count sheets & shiver all the way to my indoor bathroom! Bless my heart, I tell ya it was tough. Ok, so I admit it. I am a wussie camper. I have all I need & most of what I want, with the exception of internet service. Camping is like a mini version of being at home, only the food taste better, the kids actually hang around & we never turn the tv or computer on. And the company ain’t too bad either. The scenery on the other hand is questionable. Take a look for yourself.

ps: I did not get one picture of Bailey’s first trip to the campground dernit! Amy & Rodney we can’t wait until Bailey is big enough to spend the night with y’all in papaws’s camper.
pss: I missed my in-laws a bunch too but we owe them a big thank you, along with my daddy, for taking turns babysitting their grand dogs (except the one night Sadie & Dozer hung out with us at the campground)
me.

Very nice – it looks like y’all had a lot of fun. I enjoyed the slideshow!
great slideshow mom! you got some good pictures! i loved the butterflies and quote at the beginning too…it reminded me of nana
love you!
You did a great job (I even got Jimmy & Christopher to look at the bog). Had fun and cant wait until the next trip. I am kinda missing Bailey myself today.
well, if you got Jimmy & Christopher to look at the blog, I just as well never post again, I have accomplished a great thing here! I had a great time too … and cannot wait to go again soon.
Loved the slide show Melinda. It looks like you had a GREAT weekend with family and friends. Thanks for sharing.
Melinda, Have to say loved the side show and looks like ya’ll had a great time..PS.. Please take Mom Anita out in the woods for a weekend..
joy, i would love to take mom anita camping. we did go to the beach together years ago when the girls were playing ball. mom ellen can’t stay with me though, she would freeze to death!
Ok I just watched the slide show…I can’t believe what I’ve been missing all theses years wow, and I mean wow.. when is the next trip I’ll check my schedule….when you say…oh dag nabbit I’m washing my hair one of those days..maybe the time after…Love ya, mean it.
Melinda, honey, I can’t stay with you either as I too will freeze to death and the mortal world is not yet ready to go on without me (no matter what Joy thinks – she has unpleasant reasons for wanting me to go camping, the end result being she would love to have lots of laughs at my expense!) Sounds like you had a great time and I’m glad you enjoy “roughing it.”
Melinda, Please take Mom Anita camping.. I will buy all the marshmellows she will eat plus supply you with ear plugs when she starts cussing the weather, bugs, and whatever else has the nerve to get near her out in the woods.. Looks like ya’ll had a great time but will you please shave the bear or put a shirt on him before he does more tricks for the camera…
oh Joy, I love my hairy bear Jimmy. But I do have to share with you that last year he let the kids (by kids I mean teenagers) tape his fur up with duct tape and rip it off in order to be less hairy. He was less hairy alright but far more bloody. And I guess I’m going to have to kidnap mom anita & take her camping. Apparantly her son doesn’t think he wants to go camping with me either. He is too busy washing the hair he doesn’t have … but I must say … at least he doesn’t sport the comb over anymore, I am thankful for small favors.
Melinda, Duct tape and a butter knife are woman’s best friend but should never come in contact with hairy men…Mom Anita and her darling son really need to go camping to learn how to live off the land such eating hotdogs, marshmellows, and way to much other junk food.
Just for the record, I prefer a good hot dog to a steak and roasted marshmallows are absolutely yummy. (My boys did their stint in the scouts and I put in my time as a den mother – try not to faint, Joy)
I am a fan of the golden toasty marshmellow myself. I do not like them burnt to a crisp. And please let me just laugh out loud on my very own blog over the notion of your son being a boy scout! I can completely see you being a den mother, an unorthodox den mother but a den mother non the less. Remind me to laugh at Tony and tell him I need to see him in his boy scout uniform sometime in the near future!
