* Big doings …
Big doings is a phrase I’ve heard my entire life. I love to hear Seth say “girls, we’re fixin’ to have some big doings” … It makes me smile. In Southern slang … Big doings translates to “girls we are about to throw a party”. And let me tell you … today was some Big doings done up right! My sincerest thanks goes out to The ladies & gentlemen of our local Democrat Party. You out did yourselves. I don’t typically write about politics or my political views, mostly because it’s not up for discussion. I am what I am what I am, end of conversation. But today was special. Today was a day that people from both parties, all ethnicities and backgrounds came together to honor Seth. I think he enjoyed himself. I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
Seth & my baby. She had just finished kindergarten when I went to work at the Clerk’s Office … she will graduate High School in two weeks.

The first lady of the Clerk’s Office and the two youngest boys … we’ve all watched the boys grow up.

I don’t think he can stop being a politician … it’s in his blood … it’s what he does. He says I’m wrong.

these tables were filled and refilled more times than I can count …

these ladies have to be worn out & let me tell you … they can turn out a party!

beautiful flowers greeted the guest …

Former & current Sheriff’s …

a little bapa loving in the middle of the Big doings can never hurt …

I’d be willing to wager a bet that these two are up to no good …

Look … it’s a deputy clerk line up … which one is the guilty party this time? probably all of um!

my sweet friend Angie … I love this picture of her!

just say bless his heart and move along … he’s a brave man.

the Stony Point crew …

Earpie dipping away …

Chrisi & Angie catching up …

three wise men …

a future politician if ever one has been born … it’s in his blood too! I am not wrong about that.

last I heard … this one is planning to take his Daddy’s chair with him to the governor’s office one day.

and little brother too …

old friends …

who came to say thank you for so many years of service …

There were so many Judges, Attorneys, Officers and other political people there today. I have opted not to post any of their pictures, simply because I would never want to intrude on a public servant’s privacy … they have very little of it anyway. And I did not get one picture of Seth’s oldest son. Nor did I take any pictures of the official talking part of the evening. I couldn’t see through my tears, much less take pictures.
I think it is safe to say that today was a perfect ending to a long & distinguished career. In my heart, I will continue to hope that it isn’t really the end of his career but for now … in his words … “It’s been a good party but it’s time to go home”.
And like with everything in life … time marches on. The Clerk’s Office will open at 8:00 am on Monday morning June 1st. We will go to Court, we will serve the public and life will go on. It will certainly be different but it will go on. Fortunately for us … we’re prepared. Meet the new boss …

On Monday morning at 9:00 am our newly appointed Clerk of Court will be sworn in … come join us for some new Big doings.
me.
