* Redneck, I mean rodeo fun …

Posted on July 20th, 2009 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

As you know by now, we spent Saturday night at our local rodeo.  By local rodeo I mean “redneck fest with animals”.  I realize that there are far more intellectually or socially stimulating places one could spend their Saturday night as opposed to the rodeo, but what fun would that be?  I mean where else can you openly make fun of hoochies in their daisy dukes or entire drunk families having a good ole fashion throw down in public?  Plus … it isn’t likely that you will see this

while listening to the Star Spangled Banner followed closely by Elvis singing Dixie … anywhere else.   (I am now humming “in Dixieland I’ll take my stand, to live & die in Dixie). thank you … thank you very much.

I really shouldn’t make fun, I just can’t help myself.  It’s like Wrong Turn meets The Beverly Hillbilies meets 8 Seconds.  (I’m sure Anna’s heart just missed a beat at the mere reference of Wrong Turn & Lane Frost in the same sentence, it’s probably a sin of some sort that I am not aware of).

I have to admit, there is a small part of me that enjoys the redneck action.  How could you not enjoying watching these two?

future rodeo stars in the making.

meet cowboy Logan …

and his sidekick … cowboy Chase(mandoodle).

Who wears white shorts to a rodeo?  Um, that would be Brandon, Chase’s big brother.  He wasn’t really interested in the whole idea of cowboying it up.

These are Chase & Brandon’s folks.  This is just a guess, but I am pretty sure … Chase takes after his daddy, James and Brandon takes after his mom, Lorie.  Remember, that was just a guess on my part and I am no rocket scientist.

Let’s not forget our future cowgirls …

Chelsie had just finished playing tug-a-war.  Girls against the boys.  Girls rock!

Marissa and …

Michaela rode in their very first rodeo this weekend.  Anna & Amy had better watch out for these girls, I see some competition in the near future.

or maybe … Logan is the one they should all be watching out for!

It really was a beautiful night to enjoy being outdoors with some good friends & family.  If you don’t mind eating a little …

dust … then come on out and join us next time.  We’d love to have ya.  However, I cannot promise that we won’t embarass you, pass gas beside you or belch in your ear.  (I mean, some of the rest of them may do those things … not me of course)!

    Looks like a lot of fun!

    This brought back memories of going to the rodeo in Crossville, TN with my mother. But…we would have to go to the flea market first to buy my kids cowboy boots that they wore all summer long. For this city slicker, that is about as far as I would go.
