* the hook up …
It’s tv premier week this week. I would be excited about that except for the fact that I seldom watch tv. Anna & Richard are excited … new episodes of Criminal Minds, CSI, NCIS … woohoo! The upside of this is Repo Man & Deadliest Catch can be put on the back burner for a bit.
Tonight, I was scanning the tv lineup and saw How I Met Your Mother was on … I’ve never watched it but an idea popped into my sweet little head. Tonight we are going to play a game.
How did you meet your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, ex or whomever you have or had the most lasting relationship with?
Don’t be shy now. This is how we get to know eachother better. I ask nosey questions, you humor me and answer them … see, it’s easy.
I’ll be first:
I met Richard by accident, I went out with a girlfriend to a bar/pool shootin’ place. Please be charmed by my high class standards. I got really dressed up for the occassion, I was wearing overalls with a t shirt & tennis shoes. I’m not sure if I had even fixed my hair or had make up on. I wasn’t planning on going out, it was a Sunday night (october 4th 1998) and I had to work in the morning. He was wearing a red tshirt and jeans, he looked kind of straggly. My cup of tea! Knowing him now, I am amazed he even spoke to me much less saved me from a freaky weird married guy who kept asking me to dance. Richard informed him that I couldn’t dance because I would be dancing with him. I was giddy, almost 30 and giddy like a school girl. It was shameful and I didn’t even have a clue at that time that he was a little younger than me. So we danced, he drove me home and that was how we met.
Now it’s your turn. Tell us how you met someone you love.
ps: any clue what song we danced to?
me.

Well, I met Tod at the drivethru window at what is now First Community Bank, then was Blue Ridge Bank. I was a teller working there and Robin Loudermilt worked there too. She said that she knew someone I should meet and called Marty and he “just happened” to be in the area and “just happened” to have Tod riding with him. They came through the drive thru, I said hey…I was nervous as a cat!!! ( I am kinda a shy type person until I really get to know you) We went out with Marty and Robin the next Thursday August 21, 1997 to Sakura’s Japenese Rest. in Statesville and we’ve been married for a little over 11 years now. May 23,1998. He truely was an answer to a prayer,I had alot going on in my life at that time and as always God knows just what we need and when we need it. He is the best husband and dad!! I am so proud of him and thankful that God has blessed me with him and a wonderful daughter.
Melinda you should compose your blogs into a book, a devotional book, a food for thought book–it would be a success!!!
My husband David and I met after he did a heart stress test on my mom. She was most impressed with him and felt extremely compelled to not only introduce us but hand over my number without even asking! Good thing he wasn’t a stalker or serial killer!
We’ve been married almost 5 years and I thank God everyday for sending him into my life, via my mom!
hey Katrina, my anniversary is may 23rd too! but not 1998, I think it’s 2003, Cathy usually has to remind me how many years I’ve been married.
mom- 2003 is correct, i was a freshman in high school.
.
i met my main man bentley (in the picture with richard up top) on march 27, 2009 when bapa surprised me with him. it was love at first sight
Aww.
Also, March 27th is my birthday.
I knew that!
I figured you did.
P.S. Your family has good taste in TV shows. I love NCIS and Criminal Minds.
chemistry (well that was when we started dating) ironic? i think not!
we actually had a couple classes together before that pre-calc was one. about two months before we started dating my grandma passed away and i missed school a couple of days. when brandon found out he wrote me a sweet encouraging note that had bible quotes and his support. i thought it was sweet, but i wasn’t interested. four and a half years later…. we are engaged and i still have that note!!! funny how things work out!
