* my fair town …

Posted on October 10th, 2009 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

Ever been to a small town agricultural fair?  If you live here, I am betting you have.  My home town had our fair this week.  What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word fair?

The carnival rides?

Fair food?  Funnel cakes? Cotton Candy? Caramel apples?

The exhibit hall?  Just look at all that home grown deliciousness.

The animals maybe?

I imagine those are the things normal folks think of when they hear the word fair.  Unlike normal people, none of those things even skim my brain when I hear the word fair.  What is the first thing I think when I hear it’s fair time?

Get out the helium tank my friend, it’s time to blow up some balloons, shake some hands and do some good old fashioned politicking.  Before you ask … yes, it’s a warped, sad thing but that’s just the way it is.  It’s just what we do.  Old habits die hard.

    You mean to tell me there is something outside the exhibit hall? Who would have thunk it!!!!!

    it was quite the revelation to me too! you would think someone would’ve told us they had other stuff at the fair. all these years and we never knew … bless us.

    From the looks at the homecoming football game, you would have thought no one was at the fair Friday Night!

    I am totally with you on that one! I hear “fair” and I think politickin’ at the Dem party booth. Maybe we would get more people to stop by the booths if we all took hits off of the helium tank and talked to voters with chipmunk voices ? : ) Then again, maybe not so much!
