* fashion cents …

Posted on November 16th, 2009 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

I had a small mishap today.  My cute mary jane-ish looking shoes fell apart right around noon.  It was very unhandy.  When I say they fell apart, I mean they literally came unglued and the bottoms fell off of both shoes, at once.  I looked a bit strange.  I, of course, did not have a spare pair of dressy black shoes in mini.  I have everything else under the sun in mini but no black shoes.  Whatever is a girl to do?  It’s not like I could say “um, excuse me your honor … can we delay court for an hour or so, I need to go shoe shopping”.  It’s not like I live in a city where there is an actual shoe store.    Besides, we have established that I am not very shoe savy to begin with.

I go to lunch with the notion of purchasing some super glue to repair my shoes.  Friends, let me tell you, a tub of super glue could not have fixed those shoes.  So, I did the next best, most logical thing.  I jetted in to the closest retail store I could find … The Family Dollar.  Do you want to know what you can get in the shoe department for a buck fifty at the family dollar?  Not a lot.  It’s very sad.  The options were:

or …

Bedroom shoes.  I seriously considered the bedroom shoes.  I might have even picked them up.  If I could have come up with a logical reason for opting for the bedroom shoes I would not now be the not so proud owner of these …

Please note, they are a size 8.  I wear a 7 1/2.  I was desperate.  Wait, that was already painfully obvious, wasn’t it?  I spent the remaining part of my afternoon at work looking as if I had used chewing gum wrappers to craft myself a pair of sparkly ballet slippers.  Just like a little elf shoe cobbler.

Thank goodness they were on sale for $1.50.  I don’t think I could’ve paid the full $6.00 regular price.

    Tod had a shoe incident in court one time too, only he had on two different types of shoes, both black one tied and one slip on. Go figure?!? Just think you have a jump start on a halloween costume accessory.
