* see & sew …

Posted on December 28th, 2009 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

Hi.  I like vacation days!  I really like them when I am spending time with my family doing a whole lot of nothing.  Or when I’m doing something I enjoy like … using my new sewing/embroidery machine that my daddy got me and Richard for Christmas.   If you’ve checked out the chat wall thing a ma jig, I’ve mentioned that this sewing thing is a bit difficult.  I have discovered that I can not cut a straight line for the love of pete.  I sew straighter than I cut, it’s very sad.  I have swiped Thad’s electric scissors and plan to accidentally pack them in my suitcase to carry home … oops!

I’ve wanted a sewing machine for a long time.  I would’ve been happy with a cheapie but Dad went all out and got the mercedes version of sewing machines.  I haven’t even begun to figure out the embroidery part, Richard and Thad have been busy with that.  I have however spent what Christmas money I got at the fabric store.  I probably should not go back to a fabric store anytime in the near future unless I plan to fast for a long period of time.  I am learning or I should say, attempting to learn, how to make aprons.  I’ve made 3 so far.  The first one was pretty pittiful, the second one was alright and third one … I’m not finished yet, I’ll get back to you on that one.

Waa laa! we have an apron (yes, I know it looks a tad rough, cut me some slack folks, I’m new at this)!

I bought really cheap fabric so I wouldn’t feel so bad when I completely screwed it up.  Check out the hot apron model!

Stay tuned for further sewing updates … this should make for a new interesting category here on our blog.  If you have any knowledge, experience or advice, please feel free to pass it along (I know that Penny & my mother in law both sew so no holding out).  I’m excited to see what all I can create.  You can also feel free to laugh at the notion of me sewing anything at all … it’s pretty dadgum funny.

And just because she’s so stinking cute (she says this about 41 times per day “I so stinkin’ cute”)!

    You needed to make Emma Joy one that matched one of yours so that you can cook togehter via SKYPE or something. I have a sewing machine, in the garage. Britt is the sewer in this family now.
