* am I starting a “bucket list”? …
Just what in the name of pete do I think I am doing trying to sew? Y’all, I have lost my mind. I was sitting here, imagine that, pondering upon my new need for sewing. Have ya met me? I am neither crafty nor overly industrious. Let me just put it this way … the other night I send my friend Earpie a text, she nicely asked what I was doing, I told her I am sewing an apron … she lol’d me via text and then proceeded to explain to me that I was the last (not near the bottom but last) person she would ever invision sewing. And my loving other mother Penny, she just straight up asked if I had ever turned on a sewing machine! Which in hindsight was a very valid question. Who knew one machine needed so much attention, it’s like having another man or kid around to look after. It beeps more than the back up buzzer on mini and if you’ve ever seen me back … well it ain’t pretty. I am trying. Putting forth my best effort. I am truly enjoying sewing. My seam ripper, which use to be my plump rump splitting the seams of my pants, is now my new best friend. The little sucker could cut open a vault at Fort Knox and thank heavens for it. It cannot however fix the 6 apron patterns I cut completely backward earlier … does anyone have a need for a half boob apron? If so, I can hook you right up … 6 times even. I have been round and round with the sewing machine tonight. I had to yell ”satan get off me” about 121 times. Finally, I just sat down and prayed for guidance. I did not pray for patience because I simply know better. And you know what really sets my fire ablaze? Richard. He is a great seasmstress, no lie. I just wanna smack him square in the head and might yet do just that if he doesn’t stop showing off his skills. He says girls like skills … nunchuck skills and sewing skills.
Now back to why I ever thought this was a good plan. Well I don’t know why I thought that. Probably cause I watched some devil HGTV show and the crazy crafty people on their program convinced me I could sew. Or maybe I am starting myself a bucket list. You know, like the movie. I don’t plan to die anytime soon but one should be prepared. So here is my bucket list so far:
#1. learn to blog – working on it.
#2. learn to sew – rookie in ever sense of the word.
#3. never hike a mountain again – done.
#4. ride a mechanical bull – done.
#5. get my children off of my health insurance – working on that.
#6. master photoshop – will never happen.
#7. do lots of community & mission projects this coming year – this I will do.
#8. travel outside of the United States – I don’t care where, Mexico or Canada are fine, I just want to own a passport.
#9. own my own bookstore/coffee house/internet cafe/homeless shelter/food kitchen. I already have a named picked out The COOK’s Nest (as in coo coo’s nest). – not likely to happen unless I win the lottery which will be extremely unlikely since I never buy a ticket.
#10. write a book – does my blog count toward that?
#11. learn a new language, spanish would come in handy somedays at work. I can not continue with the if I speak really loud and use my hands they will understand me approach.
#12. work at Krispy Kreme and get all the donuts I can ever eat!
Welp that about covers my current list. I’m curious, what would your personal bucket list look like right this minute … share with me … at least one thing you have never done that you want to do before you can no longer do it.
Now, I am going to put on my armor and battle the sewing monster that has overtaken my dining room table.
ps: if you missed either the new years photos or the year in review be sure to check them out too while you’re here!
me.

You could make a passport in photoshop and never leave the computer chair..haha
As for one of my things to do-missionary work abroad. Have a great New Year Melinda!!
hi Corrie! i didn’t know you read the blog, what a nice surprise. that whole photoshop passport thing is a pretty dern good idea … now i just have to figure out photoshop!
You can actually get a passport and go nowhere…..but what fun would that be. I suggest Bermuda. It’s nice there. About a 2 hour flight. When you mess up on the cutting of your pattern, that is when you buy all the stuff to make all your friends some of those rice/bean things you heat up in the microwave for when your head hurts or anything else. We have 3 in the house of all different sizes and really think we could use more. They get a lot of use over here. One is frequesntly used to warm the bed and the person in it. Sort of like the pioneers used coal stuffed into something to warm their bed.
I would make a list, but I am too ADHD and would not be able to decide what to put on it.
ONE OF THE THINGS ON MY BUCKET LIST IS FOR THE KIDS AND I TO VISIT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
i would like to be fluent in another language–probably spanish.
How wonderful! I really enjoyed reading your blog. Your style is just you:) I love you ME!!
