* feather frenzy …

Posted on February 15th, 2010 by melinda in Another day in the life of me.

Call the Colonel … we’ve had a chicken explosion!

Having feathers all over the place is creating a small problem for me … I have vacuumed more in the last 2 days than I have in 2 months.  Please excuse the dog food & dirt mixed in nicely with my miniature chicken farm.

If we want to be technical, those aren’t chicken feathers at all.  They are goose down feathers, and they spread like wildfire, multiply like rabbits, clone themselves at a rapid pace.  Every time I think I’ve captured them all, 41 more pop up from nowhere.  They are all over my house, thanks to Sadie.

The next time I think putting a down feather bed outside to keep Dozer and Tulsa warm during a blizzard … someone please remind me that it’s an absolutely horrific idea … let um freeze.  If Dozer hadn’t tried to eat Richard, they wouldn’t be living outdoors to begin with.  What in the world was I thinking?  I mean what intelligent person may have assumed that their idiot dogs would tear in to the fluffy, puffy down bedding?  Evidently, not me.

Take a close look my friends, that is not snow covering my side porch … those are all down feathers.  Do you have any clue how difficult it is to capture and dispose of 64536 itty bitty feathers?  It’s not possible, plus, like I said, they multiply rapidly.

The usual suspects were not eagerly confessing.  It was more a “wwwhhhha” look as they trapsed around in the fluffy kingdom of their porch.

Luckily, the feathers blend pretty well with the snow, we are suppose to get more snow today thus I am going with the theory of it all working itself out without too much feather clean up on my part.
